Inspector Opeta Completes International Crime Management Program in Indonesia

Inspector Alataua Opeta of the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services has successfully completed the International Management of Serious Crime (IMOSC) program at the Jakarta Centre for Law Enforcement Cooperation (JCLEC) in Semarang, Indonesia. The program, held from May 12 to 31, 2024, offered Inspector Opeta the opportunity to participate. Established by the governments of Indonesia and Australia in 2004, JCLEC focuses on managing complex investigations and multilateral cooperation to combat transnational crime. The IMOSC program, led by the Australian Institute of Police Management, is renowned for equipping law enforcement officers with essential skills and techniques to address serious crime and fostering international collaboration.

The Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS) continues to prepare for the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) this October with ongoing Close Personal Protection (CPP) training. Today, another group of officers completed their two-week CPP course, enhancing their skills and knowledge in safeguarding dignitaries. These continuous training sessions are crucial for ensuring the safety and security of high-profile guests during the event. The SPPCS remains committed to maintaining high standards of protection and operational readiness as they gear up for the significant international gathering.
