United Nation Peacekeeping Deployment to Abyei South Sudan (Africa) & One Year Study in New Zealand
Over the weekend Sergeant Josie Papalii left Samoa for her UN Peacekeeping Deployment in South Sudan, Africa. Prior to her departure members of the Executive met with Sgt Papalii to wish her the best of luck as a representative of Samoa and the Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Services (SPPCS) under the umbrella of the United Nations.
She is the first to be deployed for peacekeeping mission after deployments were halted in 2020 due to COVID-19. Seven other SPPCS officers who have been cleared by the UN are awaiting confirmation of their deployment. Sgt Papalii will be on deployment for a year with a possibility of a six months extension. We pray for her safety whilst on deployment until she returns home safely.
Commissioner and Executive also farewell two of its police band members who are on a one year study in Christchurch New Zealand. Constable Orikene Mauinatu and Constable Ropati Lima will be attending the Mutual Assistance Program (MAP) Bandleaders and Musician’s Course 2025 and also left for New Zealand on the weekend.
The musician course is supported by the New Zealand Army and has assisted in the development of musical knowledge of our band members over the years. This is the first time that an opportunity for two officers has been offered to the Samoa Police band. We wish both Const. Mauinatu and Lima the best of luck with their studies in New Zealand.
We look forward to the safe return of all of our officers upon completion of their undertakings.
Please keep our officers in your prayers Samoa.
