SPPCS REPRESENTED AT PFWG ANNUAL MEETING IN TONGA
The Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Services (SPPCS) proudly participated in the annual meeting of the Pacific Forensic Working Group (PFWG), held last week in the Kingdom of Tonga.
Representing SPPCS at the meeting were Superintendent Tipasa Matamu and Digital Forensics Analyst Timothy Komiti. We are proud to share that both officers were elected to the PFWG Executive Committee, Supt Matamu as the new Deputy Chair of the PFWG, and Mr. Komiti as Chair of the Digital Forensics Discipline.
The PFWG is a key initiative under the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police (PICP), focused on strengthening forensic capabilities across the Pacific region. The meeting featured robust discussions on ways to further develop forensic science, with a special focus on collaboration, capacity building, and digital forensics.
A significant highlight was the discussion around a proposed Pacific Forensics Centre of Excellence, which is set to be established in both Fiji and Samoa, marking an exciting step forward in regional forensic development.
SPPCS remains committed to supporting and advancing forensic science to help ensure safer communities across Samoa and the Pacific.
