SPPCS Remote Pilot Training Officially Open

Early this morning, Monday 22nd January 2024, Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (‘SPPCS’) held a ceremony to officially open the Remote Pilot Training at the Training Unit at Matautu-tai.
The course opening was attended by the (‘SPPCS’) staff and Australia Federal Police advisors. The two weeks training will be deliver by local qualified trainers and will consist of both theory and practical sessions. Six officers will undergo this training with more trainings anticipated to be delivered throughout this year.
Detective Superintendent Daniel Evans of the Samoa Australia Police Partnership Project emphasised the importance of the drone training in preparation for CHOGM. The drone provides an eye in the sky to monitor and inform police to deploy resources which maintain the security of the event Detective Superintendent Daniel Evans said.
In addition, this training will also prepare the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, in extra security duties as well as investigations and crime scene plans.
