SPPCS Officers Complete Core Training of the Pacific Police Programme

CONGRATULATIONS! CORE TRAINING OF THE PACIFIC POLICE COURSE
Today, 23rd April 2026, Acting Police Commissioner Leiataua Samuelu Afamasaga officially closed the Core Training of the Pacific Police Course for the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services.
From the 13th April 2026, the group took part in a significant learning journey that goes beyond theories and focuses on the core of modern policing which are value-based leadership, sound decision-making and community engagement; as these are the principles that must guide actions in the field daily.
Throughout the training, the participants have explored practical ways to strengthen investigations, improve decision-making and build trust within our community as these are critical in the modern policing environment, where success is not measured only by enforcement but by prevention, partnership and public confidence.
Acting Commissioner Leaiataua Samuelu Afamasaga acknowledged Madam Inspector Gilmore, Senior Sergeant Rhys Connell and Senior Sergeant Daiel Macintosh for their dedication, professionalism and commitment in delivering the Core Training of the Pacific Police Course.
He also extended a special acknowledgement to Senior Sergeant Gavin Briggs, the New Zealand Police Samoa Base Senior Advisor, for his continued support and strong partnership with our Police Service. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to strengthening policing capability across the Pacific.
He stressed on the graduates that the true value of trainings lies in how it is used because our communities will not benefit from what we know but from what we do as police officers.
Again, congratulation to the 4th Class – CTOPPC for completing this course.
