Samoa Strengthens Security and Defense Ties with India
12 December 2024 – The Minister of Police, Prisons, and Corrections Services of Samoa, Hon. Faualo Harry Jeffrey Schuster, alongside Commissioner Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo, met with India’s Minister of Defense, Hon. Rajnath Singh, to discuss security collaboration and India’s role in promoting regional peace and stability.
During the meeting, Minister Faualo expressed appreciation for India’s commitment to strengthening global defense partnerships, recognizing the strategic importance of security cooperation in the Pacific. He acknowledged India’s efforts in fostering international dialogue and enhancing security frameworks through strategic alliances.
The meeting underscored Samoa’s interest in strengthening regional security, particularly as the Pacific navigates evolving geopolitical challenges. As part of ongoing cooperation, Minister Faualo and Commissioner Auapa’au were invited to participate in the upcoming “Aero India 2025” and “BRIDGE – Defence Ministers’ Conclave 2025,” scheduled for February in Bengaluru, India.
India’s defense initiatives aim to build resilience through international engagement, facilitating dialogue with friendly nations to strengthen security networks. Samoa’s involvement in such discussions reflects its dedication to maintaining peace and stability within the region while exploring opportunities for defense capability development.
