Samoa Police Represents at INTERPOL Cybercrime Working Group in Hanoi

The Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services was represented by ACEO ICT, Samoatā Vatafaitoa Schwalger at the 2nd Asia & South Pacific Cybercrime Working Group for Heads of Units, held from 8–10 July 2025 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The conference brought together over 70 delegates from 24 countries, focusing on strengthening cooperation among :aw Enforcement agencies and Private Sector partners across Asia and the South Pacific in the ongoing fight against cybercrime. Discussions centred on improving international collaboration, enhancing trust and partnerships, and sharing effective strategies to combat cybercrime across borders.
A growing concern raised at the conference was the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by cybercriminals—highlighting the urgent need for law enforcement to stay ahead through innovation, intelligence sharing, and collective action.
Mr. Edmund Goh, Head of INTERPOL’s Asia-Pacific Cybercrime Prevention Project, also shared the success of Operation SECURE, a regional campaign that targeted information-stealing malware—reinforcing the value of united efforts in cybersecurity.
