Samoa Police Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS) Welcomes Vanuatu Police Officers for Motorcycle Training
On Thursday, 5 September 2024, the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS) welcomed 10 officers from the Vanuatu Police Force to a Motorcycle Training Program. The event was marked by a prayer led by Inspector Filipo Iloilo, setting a reflective tone for the occasion.
Acting Commissioner Leiataua Samuelu Afamasaga delivered the keynote address, acknowledging the strong partnership and collaboration between the SPPCS, the Australian Federal Police (AFP), and the Vanuatu Police, which made this training program possible. He emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in advancing law enforcement capacities, stating, “By the Pacific for The Pacific.”
In his address, Acting Commissioner Afamasaga also recognized the SPPCS trainers who underwent specialized training with the Fijian Police earlier this year. These trainers are now successfully delivering training to officers from across the Pacific. The 10 Vanuatu officers will be the first to train in the newly established facilities of the Police Training Academy at Tafa’igata.
As the officers embark on this journey, the Acting Commissioner wished them success, expressing confidence in their ability to make the most of this valuable opportunity.
This training program underscores the SPPCS’s commitment to enhancing the professional development of police forces within the region through shared knowledge and collaboration.
