Enhancing Emergency Communications

Enhancing Emergency Communications – 26 Mobile Radios Handed Over to SFESA
On Friday of last week, Police Commissioner Auapaau Logoitino Filipo, together with Superintendent Simon Penny of the Samoa Australia Police Partnership (SAPP), officially handed over 26 mobile radios to the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services — reinforcing a whole-of-government approach to emergency response coordination in Samoa.
The radios, funded through the Australian Federal Police (AFP) under the Emergency Radio Network (ERN) Project, form part of a broader whole-of-government effort to strengthen national emergency communications. Key agencies such as the Samoa Fire and Emergency Services Authority (SFESA) and the Disaster Management Office – Samoa (DMO) are integrated into this network, ensuring seamless coordination during disaster responses and national operations.
These 26 mobile radios will be installed in ambulances, fire trucks, and other SFESA response vehicles, providing officers with reliable, real-time communication during critical incidents and emergencies. This directly enhances the ability of emergency responders to coordinate, act swiftly, and save lives.
This latest handover highlights the strength of our partnerships and the continued commitment of the AFP to supporting not only the Samoa Police but the entire Samoan Government in building a safer, better-connected nation.
We acknowledge and sincerely thank the AFP and SAPP for their unwavering support toward our shared mission of strengthening public safety across Samoa.
One network. Stronger agencies. A safer Samoa.
