This morning, the Samoa Police, Prisons, and Correction Services committed to the destruction of firearms, ammunition, and drugs linked to illegal activities in Samoa. 💪🇼🇸
In total, the following items were destroyed:
• 360 illegal firearms (including 77 surrendered under the past amnesty)
• 1,635 rounds of assorted ammunition
• 4kg of illicit drugs – including 42.5g of methamphetamine and 3.99kg of marijuana
These items were seized through coordinated police operations, intelligence-led raids, and strong community cooperation. Their removal reflects our unwavering commitment to public safety, justice, and the rule of law. ⚖️🛡️
The ceremony was held at Police Headquarters in Apia, witnessed by Government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and the media. Firearms were destroyed using a metal bender donated by the New Zealand High Commission in Samoa 🇳🇿, followed by rolling 🚜 and drug incineration 🔥.
Did you know dismantling firearms is like taking apart a stubborn piece of furniture? 🧰 It can be tough—but it’s incredibly satisfying when done right! ✅ This effort helps keep our island safe and secure. 🌴💖
