Close Personal Protection (CPP) Instructors have returned home from Tonga.

The Close Personal Protection training, led by four seasoned instructors from the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services team—Senior Sergeant Junior Afereti, Corporal Fereti Sefo, Corporal Tyrone Mamaia, and Senior Constable Visesio Peni—focused on honing the capabilities of 12 Tongan Police officers in the protection and security protocols for foreign dignitaries and VIP guests. Held from January 29th to February 9th, 2024, the training occurred at the Tongan Police College in Longolongo.
Funded by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and facilitated by the Tonga-Australia Policing Partnership (TAPP), the program received support from AFP Officer Michael Ronan, who provided assistance and oversight throughout the training.
The SPPCS officers returned safely on February 11th, and earlier today, Commissioner Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo and Deputy Commissioner Papali’i Monalisa Tiai-Keti warmly welcomed them back, where they shared their insights and feedback from the Close Personal Protection training conducted in Tonga.
Welcome back home, officers.
