“Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Services’ Promotion and Swearing-in Ceremony”

Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services honoured four of its members in a promotional ceremony, including a newly hired member conducting his swearing-in this morning.
The ceremony was conducted at the Tanumalala grounds with Commissioner Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo, Deputy Commissioners Papali’i Monalisa Tiai-Keti and Lafaitele Herbert Aati and Leiataua Samuelu Afamasaga in attendance. Principal Corrections Officer Lupematasila Faiva led the special gatherings’ service. In his sermon he reminded the four members that “any calling is a calling from God, it was not by accident that you were chosen”. He further added that with any promotion comes more responsibility; it is in that respect that they should continue to serve with honour and faith, but most of all serve your calling as if you are doing it for the Lord”

Commissioner Auapa’au reiterated the significance of Lupematasila’s message, “with power, comes great responsibility” To re-enforce the message he referenced Rev. Dr Siaosi Sasulu’s encouragement message to the recruiting class last week, “o lau avega o lo’o tau’ave fa’atasi ma le Atua, – You share your load with God, remembering that you carry this load with your parents, spouses and children, families, villages and churches’ image in all that you do” Commissioner also imparted to the members four core values that they should carry with them always,

– Your decisions should be done in accordance with the Law
– Your decisions should be just and fair
– Your decisions should be consistent
– You should be able to justify your decisions

Auapa’au concluded his address by congratulating the four members and wished them all the best with their new posts. The formalities were then followed by the swearing- in of the four members, and the presentation of certificates. MC of the program, Deputy Commissioner for Prisons and Corrections Services Leiataua Samuelu Afamasaga, also conveyed his congratulations to these members with the message “to remember this day as they begin their journey in their new calling”
