Day 3: Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Services inspection program of Savai’i Outposts.

Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Services ended their inspection of the Savai’i outpost with Vaito’omuli Police station hosting a brief community day with its local villagers earlier this morning.
The program consisted of the local minister Rev. Fereti Sefo conducting a short service to bless the gathering and acknowledge the work Samoa Police, Prisons and Correction Services has done thus far, with the support of its counterparts the Australian Federal Police, Samoa Australia Police Partnership.
Village matai, Seumaugafagai too acknowledged SPPCS and SAPP AFP’s passion and dedication to assist the village with renovating its pool (vaita’ele) known to them as the “vai o le Lupe”
Commissioner Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo in his remarks conveyed how this project is through the partnership of Samoa Police and the Australian Police (SAPP). But the overall objective of the gathering is to strengthen the collaboration of Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Services and ali’i ma faipule. “Building this network can go a long way, and having this connection can assist the SPPCS greatly”, Auapa’au says.

Australia Federal Police Mission Commander Daniel Evans, in his address, conveyed how privileged they are to be a part of this important day. Commander Evans reinforced Commissioner’s speech on ongoing collaboration, stating how “they are honored and proud to work with the Samoa Police on a daily basis.
He went on to say that the “partnership that we have with the police is built on honesty and trust; is also an important piece that is built on a police and community partnership, without the community there are no police, without the police, there is no safe community. Crime is tackling us not only from within but from overseas and now is the most important time that we come together”
The brief ceremony was then followed by the cutting of the ribbon to officially launch the reopening of the Vaito’omuli pool “Vai o le Lupe” with a photo session to conclude the ceremony and with the village children taking a dip in the new renovated pool.
