CHINESE PATHOLOGIST EXIT MEETING

        Earlier today, Wednesday 2 June 2021 SPPCS hosted the wrap-up meeting with the team of medical pathologist from China who have been in Samoa for over a month to conduct autopsies of bodies that were subject of coronial enquiries.

        The team’s findings have been submitted to the Office of the Attorney General for court proceedings.

        The meeting was attended by CEO MFAT, Commissioner of Police and representative from the Ministry of Health. Samoa acknowledges the support of the Chinese government for prioritizing Samoa’s request especially this particular matter.

        At the completion of autopsies, bodies have since been released to families for burial and as a result it has cleared out the back log of bodies held at the Motootua morgue for post mortems.

        The team will return to China on 4 June 2021.
