The Samoa Police Training Academy was inaugurated in 2024 as Samoa’s first purpose-built law enforcement training centre and was certified by the Samoa Qualifications Authority as a registered training provider in January 2025.
In 2026, the Academy’s key programs include the delivery of recruit training and the Basic Intelligence Course. The facility also works closely with international partners, including the Australian Federal Police and New Zealand Police, to strengthen the skills, knowledge, and capability of personnel across key areas such as law and order maintenance, crime prevention, and maritime safety.
Applicants must meet all the baseline eligibility parameters below:
Must be a Samoan citizen.
Be 21 years of age or older.
Be fluent in both English and Samoan.
Have reached at least Foundation Year level at university.
Be in excellent physical condition.
Have no criminal record history.
Applicants will progress through a structured recruitment process designed to assess their suitability, skills, fitness, and readiness.
Submit the completed application form and all required supporting documents.
Applications are reviewed to confirm eligibility, qualifications, and background suitability.
Applicants complete a written assessment to test their knowledge, comprehension, and communication skills.
Applicants complete a computer-based assessment to demonstrate basic digital literacy and competency.
Applicants are assessed on their physical fitness and ability to meet the required standards.
Shortlisted applicants attend an interview to assess their motivation, character, and suitability for the role.
Successful applicants are selected to progress into recruit training.
Selected recruits undertake a 19-week training program to develop the knowledge, discipline, skills, and confidence required to serve as Samoa Police officers.
