The Cyber Safety Awareness programs conducted by Community Engagement Policing at Toamua-Uta Assembly of God Youth align with broader initiatives aimed at increasing public awareness and safety, particularly among young people. These programs aim to equip youth with essential skills and knowledge for using the internet wisely.
By educating youth on both the advantages and disadvantages of the internet, the program fosters a balanced understanding, helping them navigate potential cyber threats like phishing, scams, grooming, cyberbullying, misinformation, and defamation. This is consistent with global practices where police community engagement units focus on educating residents about personal safety and internet safety . Additionally, empowering individuals to protect themselves and their data online.
Highlighting the importance of reporting cybercrimes to the Ministry of Police, Prisons, and Correction Services also reflects the role of community policing in building partnerships. Dedicated community liaison officers often focus on programs that build trust and ensure collaboration between law enforcement and the community . Such initiatives not only address immediate safety concerns but also contribute to long-term crime prevention and positive community relationships .
