SAMOA POLICE WOMEN ADVISORY NETWORK (SPWAN) CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2025
The Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS), through the Samoa Police Women Advisory Network (SPWAN), proudly celebrated International Women’s Day 2025 today under the theme “Accelerate Action.” This year’s theme highlights the urgency of driving meaningful change and empowering women to take bold steps toward progress, equality, and leadership.
The day commenced with a formal parade of all women officers and non-members to the Government Building, where they participated in the official raising of the Samoan flag. This symbolic event underscored the strength, unity, and dedication of women within the SPPCS.
In the spirit of taking action, SPWAN gathered donations and essential goods for the Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG). A special visit was made to the Campus of Hope, where officers shared words of encouragement and extended their support to survivors of violence and abuse. This initiative reflects SPPCS’ ongoing commitment to community service and protection.
The celebrations continued at the Samoa Police Training Academy, where all SPPCS women officers participated in team-building activities and uplifting programs, recognizing their contributions and reinforcing their role in accelerating positive change.
A significant leadership transition was also marked this year, as Superintendent Vaaufiao Aldora Mamaia, who served as SPWAN President in 2024, has now passed the role to Assistant Commissioner Papali’i Efo Peika Moalele, who will lead SPWAN in 2025. This transition highlights the continued growth and strength of women’s leadership within SPPCS.
SPPCS remains committed to accelerating action toward gender equality, professional development, and community safety. Today’s celebration is a testament to the resilience, dedication, and impact of women in policing, paving the way for a stronger and more inclusive future.
