Completion of Forensic Training and Handover of Equipment by Chinese Embassy
Apia, Samoa – Thursday, 5 December 2024 – The Samoa Police, Prisons, and Corrections Services (SPPCS) proudly acknowledge the successful completion of a two-week training program on fingerprint and footprint identification, facilitated by the Chinese Embassy in Samoa. Eight SPPCS officers have been equipped with the technical knowledge and practical skills essential for forensic investigations, enhancing the capacity of the SPPCS to process and analyze crime scene evidence effectively.
As part of this initiative, the Chinese Embassy also generously handed over specialized forensic equipment, further strengthening the capabilities of the SPPCS Forensic Unit. This state-of-the-art equipment will significantly aid in the identification and documentation of footprints and fingerprints at crime scenes, improving the precision and efficiency of investigations.
The training program covered both theoretical and practical aspects of forensic science, ensuring participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the latest methodologies. Trainers provided valuable feedback, highlighting the participants’ engagement and the practical application of their newly acquired skills.
The Deputy Commissioner, Lafaitele Herbert Aati, expressed the SPPCS’s gratitude to the Chinese Embassy for their continued support in building forensic expertise within the service. This collaboration underscores the shared commitment to enhancing law enforcement capabilities and strengthening justice systems in Samoa.
