Senior Sergeant Silivelio Petelo Retires After 43 Years of Distinguished Service
The Samoa Police, Prisons, and Corrections Services (SPPCS) bids farewell to one of its most dedicated and experienced officer, Senior Sergeant Silivelio Petelo, who retired on 19 November 2024 after an exemplary career spanning 43 years and 8 months.
Senior Sergeant Petelo joined SPPCS on 4 March 1981, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey of service to Samoa. Initially retiring on 19 November 2014, his tenure was extended due to his invaluable expertise and commitment to the force. His retirement this year signifies the conclusion of an extraordinary chapter in the history of SPPCS.
Throughout his career, Senior Sergeant Petelo undertook numerous training programs and courses, enhancing his proficiency in various facets of policing. His dedication to professional development not only advanced his capabilities but also enriched the institution’s capacity to respond to diverse challenges.
Senior Sergeant Petelo served across multiple sections of the Ministry, with notable contributions to General Policing and his tenure at the Tuasivi Outpost. His extensive institutional knowledge and practical experience were instrumental in shaping SPPCS’s operations and mentoring junior officers. Many young members of the force have benefitted from his wisdom, guidance, and leadership, which have been pivotal in the effective delivery of policing services and the fulfillment of SPPCS’s mission.
