Conclusion of Defensive Driving Course for SPPCS Members
Friday, 13 September 2024 – The Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Services (SPPCS) successfully concluded a Defensive Driving Course (DDC) today, with 21 participants, including one representative from the Ministry of Finance, graduating. This specialized training is part of the broader preparation for the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), equipping participants with critical driving skills essential for high-level security and operational tasks.
The ceremony was led by Inspector Lauina Maseiga, who opened with a prayer and shared words of wisdom for the graduates. Superintendent Laufili Malu Talo delivered encouragement to the participants, underscoring the importance of their newly acquired skills in supporting the safety and efficiency of the SPPCS. Corporal Danny Maauga, one of the course instructors, provided valuable feedback, reflecting on the dedication and progress of the graduates throughout the training.
The presence of family members added a special significance to the event, as they joined in celebrating the achievements of the participants. This training is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the operational readiness of SPPCS personnel ahead of major events like CHOGM.
