SPPCS Attends SPREP Open Day Celebrating 32 Years of Environmental Leadership in the Pacific

This morning, the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) opened its doors to officials from government, development partners, and key stakeholders during an Open Day celebrating 32 years since its establishment as the Pacific’s premier organization for environmental protection.
The Samoa Police Prisons and Corrections Services were among the invited guests at this significant event, which provided an opportunity to explore SPREP’s vital work in environmental protection and climate change resilience across the Pacific. The Open Day featured various stations and activities, including guided tours, virtual participation for students outside of Samoa, and discussions on key SPREP programs.
Guided by the theme ‘Honouring the Past, Inspiring the Future,’ the SPREP Open Day allowed invited guests and staff to reflect on their collective journey, celebrate their achievements, and draw inspiration from the positive impacts of their collaborative efforts. This event aimed to reinvigorate their commitment to the protection and conservation of the Pacific environment.
