Capacity Building in Action – Motorola Technician Provides Advanced ERN Training for ICT
As part of our ongoing commitment to strengthening local capacity and technical self-reliance, the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS) is pleased to share that following the successful installation of ERN Site 14, the Motorola Solutions Technician from Australia remained in-country for an additional three days to provide specialised training for the ICT team.
This focused capacity-building initiative aimed to deepen the team’s understanding of both the radio communication systems and the IP-based networking infrastructure that power the Emergency Radio Network (ERN) across Samoa.
Throughout the training sessions, the Motorola expert shared critical knowledge, best practices, and real-world experience — equipping our local ICT officers with the skills to better manage, maintain, and troubleshoot the ERN systems independently.
Topics covered included:
– Hands-on technical diagnostics of Motorola radio equipment
– Network architecture and remote monitoring tools
– Signal optimization and fault detection
– Tips for sustainable system management and future scaling
This investment in people and local knowledge is a key part of our long-term vision — to ensure Samoa Police has the technical capacity and confidence to maintain and advance its digital infrastructure with reduced reliance on external support.
We extend our gratitude to Motorola Solutions and the Samoa Australia Police Partnership (SAPP) for prioritising knowledge-sharing as part of this mission. Empowering our ICT team is empowering our service to the nation.
Building local expertise for a stronger, smarter, and safer Samoa.
