Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services Defensive Driving Course

Six police officers proudly graduated from the Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services Defensive Driving Course last Friday at the Tafaigata Police Academy, marking another important step in strengthening road safety and operational readiness within the Samoa Police, Prisons and Correction Services.
The graduation ceremony was held at the Tafaigata Police Academy, where the officers were commended for their commitment, discipline, and dedication throughout the intensive training program. The course focused on enhancing defensive driving techniques, risk assessment, hazard perception, and safe vehicle handling under various road and weather conditions.
The Defensive Driving Course is designed to equip officers with the necessary skills to operate police vehicles safely and responsibly, particularly during emergency responses and high-pressure situations. Emphasis was placed on accident prevention, adherence to traffic laws, and maintaining professionalism on the road at all times.
Speaking at the ceremony, Acting Deputy Commissioner Leausalilo Norman Tuafale congratulated the graduates for successfully completing the program and reminded them that safe driving is not only about protecting themselves, but also their fellow officers and members of the public. Police drivers play a critical role in ensuring timely responses to incidents while upholding the highest standards of safety.
The six officers demonstrated competence in both theoretical assessments and practical driving evaluations, proving their readiness to apply defensive driving principles in their daily duties.
