Opening of the Samoa–Nevada Best Warrior Competition Familiarization SMEE #1 Program

The Samoa Police, Prisons & Corrections Services (SPPCS) officially launched the Samoa–Nevada Best Warrior Competition Familiarization SMEE and Basic Leadership, Corrections, Basic Law Enforcement, and Mental Health SMEE #1 Program at the Tafaigata Police Academy on Monday, 23 February 2026.
The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Daniel Tarapacki, Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy Apia, Samoa, distinguished guests, and executive members of the SPPCS.
Acting Deputy Commissioner Galumalemana Eneliko Taeu, in his keynote remarks emphasized the strong and enduring partnership between the Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Services and the Nevada National Guard under the State Partnership Program. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to strengthening professional standards, enhancing leadership, and improving operational readiness across policing and corrections.
The training program will cover:
• Leadership Development
• Law Enforcement Fundamentals policing.
• Corrections Training
• Mental Health Awareness
The Best Warrior Competition familiarization component encourages excellence, discipline, and resilience, challenging participants to set high standards, led by example, and continuously improve themselves and their teams.
Participants were urged to fully engage with the program, learn from U.S. partners and instructors, and apply the knowledge gained to strengthen Samoa’s institutions and better serve the people of Samoa.
Sincere appreciation was extended to the U.S. Embassy, the Nevada National Guard delegation, instructors, and organizing teams for making the training possible.
The program was officially declared open with the blessing wishing health and prosperity to all involved.
